| The NSW Greenhouse Gas Reduction Scheme (GGAS) Registry allows owners of abatement certificates to surrender certificates to the Scheme Administrator (regarded as voluntary surrender).
Any member of the public can own certificates and offset emissions through the surrender of certificates. The surrender of one certificate is equivalent to the abatement of one tonne of carbon dioxide.
This fact sheet describes the process of surrendering certificates to the Scheme Administrator.
